Connected TV

Last week during CES, Yahoo! and its partners announced TV Widgets engine running on televisions from numerous manufacturers.

I am very excited; I believe this is going to change and elevate the role of televisions that are already very much part of our daily lives.

Certainly it is possible to connect up several other gadgets that will accomplish the same tasks, but many of them will not be open to developers and will have significant cost associated with them. The reasons are many: lack of distribution infrastructure, complex programming overhead, narrow/specific target platforms, etc. This new platform from Yahoo! can make development much easier and I would like to see the new experiences this effort will bring.

It's been exhausting during the last several months, working long hours to make the product ready for demonstration at CES. It's a great feeling to see other people playing with the televisions with positive feedback!
